Two Energy Bankers Join Marathon Capital's Investment Banking TeamBannockburn, Illinois (December 15, 2009) – Marathon Capital, a premier investment bank in the energy sector, announced today that Daniel Morash and Matthew Shanahan have joined the firm as Managing Directors. Both men leverage extensive experience in corporate finance, leveraged leasing, private placements and project financing of energy and infrastructure transactions. Mr. Morash has 30 years of experience in corporate finance, leveraged leasing, private placements and project financing of power, energy, environmental and infrastructure facilities. Most recently, he was Managing Partner of Renewable Energy Finance, responsible for financing, licensing and developing several renewable and environmental technologies. Previously, from 1996-2007, he managed the Power, Energy and Infrastructure group for Newcourt Capital and, upon its acquisition, the CIT Group. At Newcourt / CIT, he initiated the Project Finance Fund, originating numerous project financings for private placement with institutional investors. Matt Shanahan will take up residence at Marathon Capital's headquarters in Bannockburn, Illinois. Over the past 25 years, Mr. Shanahan has focused on tax-based financings in the energy and transportation sectors, including those for hydro-electric, geothermal, natural gas, solar, wind and coal generation facilities, tax credit monetization, rail operating leasing partnerships, and corporate and commercial aircraft. Most recently, Mr. Shanahan operated an investment advisory firm focused on the energy and transportation sectors. Previously, from 1999-2008, he held senior investment banking positions at The CIT Group, Inc., Newcourt Credit Group, Bank of America Leasing and Capital Group, and The Deerpath Group Inc. In those positions he was responsible for structuring and syndicating US domestic tax leases, US project finance leveraged leases, US and UK cross-border tax leases, partnership financings, and structured debt financings.
