    Marathon Capital is pleased to announce that Robert "Bob" Simmons has joined the firm as Senior Managing Director. Mr. Simmons has previously held various positions in sell-side and buy-side capacities as an investment banker and principal investor in the electric power sector. Mr. Simmons was a Founding Partner and Executive Partner at Panda Power Funds, and held various roles including Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Chief Compliance Officer and Member of the Investment and Valuation Committees. At Panda, he was responsible for raising $6 billion in total capital for Panda's most recent projects across PJM and ERCOT. He previously held positions as Managing Director with Deutsche Bank, and Vice President with Swiss Bank Corporation and Assistant VP at Citibank.

    Marathon Capital is pleased to announce that Fiera Infra LP, an infrastructure fund under the management of Fiera Infrastructure Inc. (“Fiera Infrastructure”), a leading infrastructure management firm and an affiliate of Fiera Capital Corporation, has acquired an indirect equity interest in a U.S. portfolio of eight solar and wind power generation projects owned by affiliates of D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments, L.L.C. (“DESRI”) and other investors. An additional three projects are anticipated to be added to the portfolio in 2017. Marathon Capital served as Fiera Infrastructure’s exclusive buy-side financial advisor, providing valuation, due diligence, negotiation, and transaction execution support throughout the life of the acquisition process.

    Marathon Capital is pleased to announce that Soltage LLC (Soltage) and Basalt Infrastructure Partners LP (Basalt) have completed the first close of $70 million on a $140 million equity capital partnership to fund over 100 megawatts (MW) of commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale pipeline of solar projects across the United States. The partnership expects to close the additional $70 million of equity in the first half of 2017, and the partnership will deploy this capital alongside existing tax equity and debt resources.
