Marathon Capital Advises Suzlon on Sale of 240 MW Big Sky Wind Farm

CHICAGO, IL – May 12, 2014 - Suzlon Group, the world's fifth largest wind turbine manufacturer, announced the sale of the 240 MW Big Sky wind farm in Illinois to EverPower Wind Holdings, Inc. Marathon Capital, LLC acted as exclusive financial advisor to Suzlon for this transaction.

Suzlon Group recently acquired the Big Sky wind farm via their fully owned US-based subsidiary Suzlon Wind Energy Corp (SWECO) from Edison Mission Energy.

“We are pleased that we could assist our friends at SWECO in identifying a near perfect buyer for Big Sky in EverPower. The transaction was complex, but the parties involved were able to arrive at a mutually acceptable agreement delivering value to all,” said Ted Brandt, CEO of Marathon Capital.

Suzlon and EverPower have agreed to a seven year operations and maintenance service agreement, keeping SWECO involved in the project at the operations level.

Big Sky was completed in 2011 utilizing 114 Suzlon 2.1 MW turbines and generates enough electricity per annum for nearly 50,000 homes while also offsetting over 225,000 tons of CO2 emissions. EverPower’s acquisition of Big Sky makes it the nation's 18th largest wind generator, giving the company a combined U.S. wind generation portfolio of 752 MW.
